Protecting our people during COVID- 19
Central our people strategy in 2020, was a COVID-19
response plan, designed to protect our people and equip
them with the tools and skills they needed to adapt to the
new working environment. This included:
• A company-wide COVID-19 policy, providing guidance
on hygiene, social distancing, ill health reporting and
• Home working implemented with immediate effect.
• Refurbishing centres remaining open and operational,
with measures implemented to keep people safe,
including socially distanced working, no transport
drivers allowed on site, no external visitors and
• Training rolled out to equip our people with the skills to
operate in a virtual environment..
We know our people are our greatest and most important
asset. Our team is the best in the business, leading thinkers in
technology and sustainability. We are committed to investing in
their wellbeing and development, which is why ‘Skilful People’
takes an important place as one of our four strategic priorities.

By keeping our people at the centre of our planning as the
pandemic progressed and circumstances changed, we
were able to ensure the team remained healthy, motivated
and focussed on our core business activity.

Overall satisfaction score
Despite the challenging circumstances, team satisfaction
remained high. We measure engagement through a
comprehensive annual, company-wide survey, conducted
by an external company and benchmarked against the top
25% best performing organisations in Finland.
We had an impressive response from our team, with 93%
of those invited completing the survey, up from 91% in
the previous year. Building on our success of last year, we
recorded a high overall satisfaction score of 4.14 out of a
maximum of 5.
Crucially, our team told us they felt supported throughout
the pandemic, with responses graded as ‘excellent’ when
asked if our COVID-19 response plan had minimised the
impact of the pandemic on our business and our people;
and if our team had been given the necessary tools,
information and support to successfully do their work.
We use these results to continually improve the way
we run our business. The results are analysed by our
leadership group, workshopped by all teams and then
used to build our strategic plan for the year ahead.
