Thanks to generous donations to the U Fund,
Mrs. Blanchard’s first grade class now has
enhanced lighting and additional flexible seating
options. Light diffusing panels create a relaxing
view overhead that reduces eye strain and
contributes to improved focus in the classroom
environment. Several lamps featuring energysaving LED lights are used in the classroom to
simulate bright daylight even when ceiling lights
are turned off. This provides flexibility in lighting
the room according to the activity - for example,
using the ActivBoard or using Chromebooks.

Enhancements
Each science lab is now stocked with updated first
aid kits and another cabinet for safe storage of acids.
Donations to the U Fund allow us to continue to provide
enhancements to the outdoor space that our elementary
students enjoy each day. Last year, improvements were made
to the playground our kindergarten through 2nd grade students
enjoy, and this year we are beginning work to enhance our
upper elementary playground. New features that have already
arrived include benches and tables for students and teachers
and bins that are full of playground equipment for the students
to use at recess. The next phase includes installing new turf and
shade structures. Stay tuned!
