Online resources and promotion
A new section was added to the Languages Connect website to house all of the information, updates and
resources for the Primary Sampler Module https://languagesconnect.ie/primary/
All information about Participating Schools, Resources & Awareness Raising packs, Teacher/Tutor registration,
Training and FAQs were added.
Social media was used to build awareness of both the registration for schools and Expressions of Interest
from teachers/tutors.
Awareness Raising Packs
An awareness raising pack was sent to all participating schools to complement the teaching resources and
training. The pack included supports to help teachers and pupils get the most out of the language sampler
module and help build awareness of the languages used in school and in the wider community. The pack also
contains lots of fun items to help promote and celebrate all of the
languages used in the school and community. These help build
awareness, support greater inclusion and appreciation of diversity.
The Language Passport is a document which will accompany
each pupil throughout the journey of learning additional
languages. It is designed to complement the work of the
tutor during the delivery of the module and the resources
accessible from our website. We encourage pupils to use it
for the duration of the module and also to record their
reflections as they build on their language awareness. The
passport stamps are a fun way for tutors to acknowledge and
reward progress. They can be used on pupils’ work and pages of
their Language Passport and pupils can show their parents as they
progress through the module.
A range of Say ‘Yes’ to Languages Fun Foldouts were also included. These are full of facts,
figures, vocabulary and games. They contain
descriptions and illustrations about important
landmarks, famous dishes, and basic vocabulary
which tutors might include in the module. They
can also be used by pupils in class or at home, to
challenge themselves and others.
