CUBS
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
n May 23 and 24,
fifth graders officially
celebrated their
transition from
elementary school to middle
school! To commemorate
their time, the teachers and
parents organized what has
now become a tradition, the
“Clash of the Cubs” - a fun
day filled with games,
dancing, a water balloon
fight, and a color war!
O
Thank you to the fifthgrade teachers and parents
who make this day such a
memorable success. To cap
off the celebrations, the fifthgrade students and parents
attended a “farewell” brunch
to share memories and
commemorate their time in
elementary before moving up
to middle school.
U-HIGH MARDI
GRAS SOCIAL
In late January, ULS leaders joined
colleagues from the LSU College of
Human Sciences & Education and
other areas of the university for a visit
to Washington, D.C. Kevin George
(director), Frank Rusciano (secondary
principal), and Aimee Welch-James
(secondary assistant principal) hosted
U-High alumni, current and former
parents, and friends at a morning social
that was part of the annual Washington
Mardi Gras celebration.
The gathering, held at the Washington
Hilton, afforded an opportunity to
connect with U-High supporters from the
D.C. area and who traveled from other
states, as well as to highlight new and
emerging school initiatives and their role
in upholding our status as one of the topranked schools in the nation.
