Creating Resources with TeachVid - by Dominique Sénard
If you have the transcript ready, copy and paste it into the box below the video. Sometimes YouTube
videos provide the transcript, sometimes you can find the lyrics of a song onanother website.
Depending on your situation, you can copy and paste the transcript.
You can also click on ‘look for automatic transcript.’ If there is a YouTube transcript for your video,
it should appear underneath. I would make sure to check it for mistakes.
If there is no automatically generated
transcript available, this message will
appear after you click on the slider ‘look for
automatic transcript’:
TIP: If you do not have the transcript of the video, here is a tip: You will need two devices, one to
play the video and the other one with a Word document open. Play the audio with your first device
(I use my phone) and click ‘DICTATE’ in words (selecting the language of the video first) on your
second document. The transcript should appear. You will need to add the punctuation and correct
the mistakes but it will save a lot of time.
It is important to take a few minutes at this
stage to make your transcript appear the
way it ‘should,’ with paragraphs, separate
lines, punctuation etc.‘Try and avoid having
all the text in one big block as this makes it
harder for students to read and follow’ is a
very good piece of advice from the maker
of TeachVid. When playing the video in
‘Learn Mode’ the transcript will appear on
the side. This is when you are deciding how
it will look. appear?
View of the result in ‘Learn Mode’.
When you are happy with the way the
transcript looks, click ‘Next’.
