PPLI Annual Report 2020 - Flipbook - Page 31
Next Steps
•
Physical exchanges will probably be paused until 2022, however there is potential for virtual exchanges
for 2021.
•
Virtual exchanges provide an opportunity for students to talk to native speakers, make new friends,
experience another culture, and for teachers to engage students while removing travel restrictions.
•
New PPLI virtual exchange manual to support teachers and help them to start a virtual exchange, which
will include:
• Advice on how to start a virtual exchange, how to find a partner, advice from other schools, and
activities both ice-breakers and bigger projects.
• Practical suggestions on how to include the students’ families, digital etiquette, useful examples of
emails to parents and the board of management, and a checklist.

Participation and Demographic information
•
PPLI invited teachers to apply for a place in the second round of CLIL training in May 2020, advertising the
initiative through a call on our social media platforms (Twitter and Facebook). There was a high level of
interest, including over 500 hits to two of the CLIL pages on the PPLI website within the first week and 30
applications in three days. As a result, it was decided to enlist up to 40 participants.
