The Drinks Trust - Impact Report 2020 - Flipbook - Page 2
INTRO
The following report provides an overview of
the work undertaken by The Drinks Trust in
2020 and in the six months of 2021 to June.
This period has been the most challenging
of any in living memory, both for the drinks
hospitality industry and society as a whole.
On 12th March 2020, The Drinks Trust
was announced as the new name for The
Benevolent, which had supported the
drinks and wet-led hospitality industry since
1886. Within 10 days, the first lockdown
was announced, and with it came the most
profound period of instability to the drinks
and hospitality industry in recent history.
Please allow me to thank you with all my heart.
Thanks to you, I had enough money to buy food
and pay rent. I am VERY thankful to you. I
have lost my job during the first lockdown due
to Covid-19 pandemic, and since then, it’s been
incredibly tough to make ends meet.
So once again, THANK YOU with all my heart.
Your organisation does save people in need.
At the March 2020 relaunch of the charity,
pledges were made to support more
individuals in the drinks industry and wet-led
hospitality industry, both through financial
support and wellness services. In hindsight,
these services could not have been proposed
at a timelier moment for the workforce.
Since then, the work delivered in the period
has been the most significant than any time
in the 135-year history of this charitable
organisation.
