The Council’s investment of $2,193,000
leveraged nearly $12,285,000 in support for
inclusive postsecondary programs in Florida’s
Career and Technical Education centers, the
Florida College System and the State University
System.
Legislative Impact
In 2017, Florida career and technical centers were
deemed eligible for federal funding under the Higher
Education Opportunity Act, contributing to seven
career and technical education programs and six
additional programs at state colleges. House Bill 173
was passed during the 2021 legislative session and
resulted in the most substantive changes to
secondary transition in more than 20 years.
Making a Difference
23,200 Families
benefitted from information on how to better navigate the pre-kindergarten
through postsecondary system and advocate for more inclusive
opportunities through access to the Council’s First Steps Guide.
87 Unduplicated Students
enrolled at the Robert Morgan Educational Center in Miami-Dade. Fiftyseven students earned at least one occupational completion point (OCP) in
their career certificate program, 42 students were full program completers
and 10 students remained in the program for another year.
198% Increase Reported
in enrollment in the Florida College System by students who identify as
having Autism and as Hispanic or Latino.
