Supporting planning for one hour lessons
Action 1.C.11
1,000 views
In the context of schools changing to 60-minute lessons, a need for training was identified to help support
teachers with this transition. This project developed an online tutorial to support teachers transitioning from
40-minute lessons to 60-minute lessons. The online tutorial covers basic theories on planning a 40-minute
lesson, to allow teachers to reflect on what they already do. It provides a number of different lesson structures
including reception to production, listening, speaking, reading, writing, task-based, and reflection-based. It
also considers how these structures could be delivered in an hour.
Main aims
•
Support teachers in the transition to a new lesson structure
•
Suggest different types of lesson structures that could be used depending on individual school contexts
Next steps
16
•
Continue to disseminate the tutorial amongst MFL teachers and gather feedback accordingly.
•
Identify further supports required and develop tutorials as needed.
