Support for existing teachers of new Leaving Certificate languages
In 2021, support for existing teachers of new Leaving Certificate languages entered its second year. The
proportion of self-directed CPD increased to cater for the different needs of teachers.
PPLI continued to provide training and hands-on workshops to address common challenges and areas of
interest in relation to delivering the LC curriculum.
Teachers also received, and actively engaged in, more training, support and events available in schools. This
increased professional capacity, as well as helping them to further integrate into the school system.
CPD for teachers involved in pilot online and blended projects
Between June and July, PPLI collaborated with H2 Learning to deliver CPD to teachers involved in pilot online
and blended projects for:
•
Polish LC in Cavan Monaghan ETB schools
•
Chinese LC Saturday class and TY
•
Portuguese LC Saturday class
The aim of the CPD was to equip teachers to move from Emergency Remote Teaching to a comprehensive
model of online teaching. The aim was to capitalise and expand on the skills and expertise teachers acquired
during the lockdown.
The sessions provided a framework to ensure we develop quality courses that lead to best outcomes for
students. This enables us to build and expand on the courses we can deliver.
The CPD took place online over a number of weeks, with teachers engaging in activities between the
sessions. Sessions were delivered by Education Officers, PPLI Associates and experts in online/blended
learning from H2 Learning.
The areas covered included:
•
