In March 2021, PPLI, Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) and H2 Learning piloted a
taster blended learning project for Polish Transition Year students. Building on this, a full course was
implemented for senior cycle in the four CMETB schools from September 2021.
The 180 hour course employs a mix of online, face-to-face, and self-directed learning.
Four schools and 17 students were involved in the project.

Every week three hours of Polish classes were delivered to 5th year senior cycle students:
•

•
One hour of face-to-face learning, where a teacher visits a different school each week
•
One hour of independent learning, where students are supervised by e-mentors
Dr. Kenia Puig, Agnieszka Adamska and Agnieszka Grochola attending the launch of the Blended Learning Project.
This project aimed to provide a blended model of learning whereby students could access online language
classes and have regular visits in school from their teacher. It also acted as a model of blended learning from
which insights could be derived for the development of future blended learning courses in other languages.
