Action 2.A.3
PPLI Funding Scheme for MFL Teachers with a Shortfall
in Teaching Council Registration Criteria
87 successful Upskilling applicants
11 successful Shortfall in Criteria applicants
PPLI administers several funding schemes to enable more teachers to teach their target language.
MFL Teacher Upskilling Scheme
The MFL Teacher Upskilling Scheme has been open for applications since 2018. This enables MFL Teachers to
apply for funding to upskill in a language they are qualified to teach but are not currently teaching.
PPLI Funding Scheme for MFL Teachers with a Shortfall in Teaching Council Registration Criteria
In January 2021, Teaching Council Registration Criteria opened for applications. Many MFL teachers have an
additional curricular foreign language but are short of credits to fulfill Teaching Council criteria. This scheme
helps teachers gain missing credits so they can register with the Teaching Council.
