Working with Plant Healthy Certification Bodies to grow
auditing capacity
Developing effective plant biosecurity requirements is a priority
of the scheme, another vital aspect is ensuring that the
requirements are auditable and that the scheme is delivered to
meet the highest quality assurance standards.
In the next three years we will review with the Plant Healthy
Certification Bodies the scheme’s compliance systems with a
view to assessing if and at what point the scheme is accredited.
We are currently exploring the concept of group scheme
certification with a view to enabling smaller businesses and
organisations to become certified. Group schemes require the
appointment of internal auditors which provides a basis for
reduced site audits, as all sites sit under a central quality
management framework. We will also pilot a similar approach
for single organisations that operate from with multiple sites.
