What we aim to achieve
Measuring progress
Pro-action is the ethos behind the formation of the Plant Health Alliance and the purpose of the Plant Healthy
Certification Scheme.
We are very well aware that there are costs associated with the scheme. Feedback from scheme members has been
encouraging, however we must strive to develop appropriate benefits of certification to our scheme members.
It is hoped that the knowledge-exchange process of developing the standard and the protection that the application of
the requirements confers to a member’s site and their customers is considered as high value. This integral benefit should
be built upon and all ideas for bringing additional benefits to scheme membership are encouraged for consideration.
There are several indicators in place to help report on the progress of the scheme and these will be used periodically to
update scheme members and / or donors on our performance. We are also under no illusions that we will have to achieve
our goals in what is likely to be a period where various macroeconomic pressures will be felt by many.
Schemes are inherently difficult to set up – they are innovative in nature and are often set up with a sense of urgency and
in response to a new threat or problem that emerges. We would like to thank all of who have been involved in the
development of what is effectively a community inspired Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) mark to help
safeguard all of our businesses and our countryside.
