Once this part has been corrected, students should work together, drawing on their knowledge from Junior
Cycle Geography, and using their maps and the food/country combinations previously discussed to create
similar sentences.
Geography teacher tips:
Junior Cycle Geography students will have studied global climates. Senior Cycle students are required to
cover Regional Geography as an element of the Core Syllabus, so the activities used in this lesson can
help support this.
If time allows, the following extension activity can be used. Students swap around their prepared answers
and use them for running dictation. The following examples could be used to help support students who
don’t have the prior knowledge from Junior Cycle Geography or in order to complete this in less time:
La Chine a un climat varié, c’est plutôt un climat humide (mais il y aussi un climat continental
humide, un climat désertique ou le climat de la toundra.) Il fait souvent chaud mais il pleut aussi – des
conditions idéales pour la culture de pommes, d’oranges, de thé et de riz.
Aux Etats-Unis, le climat est varié, souvent assez doux. Cela donne des conditions parfaites pour
l’agriculture et la production d'œufs et de jambon. La Nouvelle-Zélande a un climat tempéré. Il y a du
soleil, il pleut et il fait doux. Ce sont des conditions parfaites pour l’agriculture et la fabrication de beurre.
L’Allemagne a un climat tempéré. En hiver il fait doux et en été il fait assez chaud - des conditions idéales
pour la production de yaourt et de beurre.
