Worksheet Exercise 3 (Homework)
Having completed the discussion of the 10 principles of Fair Trade, students are introduced to the character
Javier, a young boy from the Dominican Republic. They are asked to imagine two different scenarios for
his life, based on whether his family work with or without a Fair Trade organisation.
One click adds the information in blue, setting up the exercise. Clicks two and three present the titles for
El plátano convencional and El plátano de comercio justo respectively. The student worksheet contains
all the sentences to be used. It is important to tell students that some may appear in both versions of
the story.
If time allows, this exercise can be started in class with students discussing the story/sentences in pairs
or small groups.
