Worksheet exercise 2:
This exercise combines work on pie charts, map reading and climate, while presenting an overview of the
main producers of bananas globally.
Part 1 – Pie charts
Click once to add all the angles to the chart. The arcs for each should be added manually on the board,
then the following question asked about each one:
¿Qué porcentaje de plátanos se cultiva en Ecuador?
Students can complete the pie charts on their worksheets and use the space provided to work out the
percentages.
To correct this part, subsequent clicks each add the percentages in clockwise order from Ecuador to
Guatemala.
Part 2 – Map reading & climate discussion
¿Dónde se encuentran esos países?
A final click on this slide adds the image of the world map
Students should use their maps and worksheets from week 3 to help identify locations of countries, revise
continents and discuss climate in that part of the world.
Space is provided on the worksheet to produce answers for this. Depending on the class situation and
time constraints, it may be suitable to allocate different countries to small groups in the class, rather than
everyone working on all of them.
