Finding care for a son away at college
A Health Connect Member was seeking care for
her son who had recently moved away to college.
“We live in Redmond, but he goes to school in
Bellingham. He doesn’t normally go to the doctor,
aside from the occasional cold or stomach flu.”
The member was comfortable scheduling regular
checkups for her son when he visited home for
vacations but wanted a plan in-place for when
illness emerged. “If he goes to Urgent Care up
there, how much will that cost me?” The Navigator
explained the varying out-of-pocket cost for innetwork, extended-network, and out-of-network
providers. Navigators understand the nuances of
the Health Connect plan and are skilled at explaining
benefits clearly and quickly. They emailed the
member information on Urgent Cares closest to
her son’s school that would cost the least. “This is
all good news,” she said.
What types of questions do Health Connect Members ask EHN Navigators?
“I’m looking for a new psychiatrist in-network that specializes in ADHD, is close to my home,
is female, close to my age, and I really don’t want to drive to Seattle. What are my options?”
“I’m looking for a Primary Care Pediatrician who specializes in caring for children with
Autism. Can you help me find one?”
“I’m looking for a therapist who specializes in spiritual and holistic health.”
“I’m looking for a Primary Care Provider with certifications or special interest in serving the
LGBTQIA+ community. Is that something you can offer?”
