Neuroscience
In 2021, approximately 1 in 6 Health Connect
Members (16%) were diagnosed with a neurological
condition. In 2022, that number was similarly
high at 15%. Additionally, providers expect
those percents to grow in the future along with
demographic shifts to the Eastside.
To address this pressing concern, providers in
EHN have joined together to form the Eastside
Neuroscience Institute, which covers neurology,
neurosurgery, and spinal care. This ongoing
collaboration helps network providers treat
members in a way that both enhances value and
improves patient satisfaction. Together they can
share techniques, talk through challenging cases,
and strategize for the future.
Cancer
Cancer is always a pressing health concern but has
become even urgent due to preventative cancer
screenings being missed during the Covid-19
2021–22 Annual Report
pandemic. “More missed screenings mean that
many cancers have likely gone undetected. While
it’s true that many will eventually be diagnosed, it’s
more likely now that they will only be discovered
at a later stage,” writes Valerie DeBendette
(verywellhealth.com, 2022). EHN is still working
through pandemic-related backlogs of screenings.
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC) physicians
see patients on the campus of EvergreenHealth
and Overlake Medical Center & Clinics, and when
patient visits happen on the campus of those
hospitals they are covered at the highest tier level.
Our Quarterly Clinic Meetings give leading providers
opportunity to engage with each other and educate
Microsoft on latest developments in their field.
Medicine is a complex and evolving practice, and it
enhances all our health when we stay up to date.
