Jenny Campbell
Campbell’s painting practice acts as a way for her
to process the feeling of wanting to be somewhere
else. She creates spaces that remind her of where she
would like to be and in doing so this process acts as
a way for her to find connection through feelings of
disconnection. Living between two countries, she is
interested in the feeling of always missing the place
that you’re not in and then capturing (or constructing)
the moment when this feeling goes away. Campbell
uses found imagery, sketches, drawings, and memory
to explore the feelings of longing, nostalgia, and
connection. She mainly uses oil paint, but watercolour
is an important part of her practice. She makes
watercolour sketches to create a visual diary that she
can pull ideas from when creating larger paintings.
