SPRINGTIME GREETINGS FROM LAMBERT BRIDGE
JENN I F ER H I G G INS
Just walk outside the winery door and you will see Spring on full display! Our 50-year-old wisteria vines on the arbor are in
full bloom and the bees are so excited and plentiful that their buzzing can be heard indoors. In the vineyard, the cover crop we planted last fall
in between the vine rows is a waist-high sea of flowers white blossoms of wild radish, yellow blooms of mustard,
and pink and purple flowers of sweet peas. The season’s
abundant rainfall was a very welcome sight and has made
the Sonoma County hills green and lush. Vines, though
around four weeks late to wake up, are growing inches per
week with the ample sunshine we’ve seen lately.
The new year brought a new team of people to our Chambers
and Winery vineyards. Redwood Empire Vineyard
Management has been at the top of their grape-growing
game for decades and their green branded trucks are a
Sonoma County staple. Tyler, Matt, and the team have done
an amazing job getting our vines ready for the growing
season. Over the last few months, we’ve focused on pruning
the dormant canes to balance the vine and tying them to the
wire. With 47 acres of cane-pruned vineyards, it takes weeks
of focused work. The crew has quite a challenging task - not
only pruning for this year but thinking ahead to leave the
proper positions for the next growing season as well. Believe
me, they make a very tricky job look easy!

The Production team is busy, busy, busy this time of year! We’ve pulled the mobile bottling line into the cellar and bottled our Sauvignon Blancs,
Semillon, Viognier, Petite Sirah and everyone’s favorite…the Chambers Vineyard Rosé! We’ve spent days around the blending table tasting,
spitting, and building our 2021 red Bordeaux wines, 2022 Chardonnays and Zinfandels. Once the blends are decided, work orders go out to the
cellar, tanks are washed, barrels are pumped out and the magic happens. In June and July, we see our friends from the mobile bottlers and do
it all over again. We are also ordering barrels and new equipment, hiring harvest interns, and keeping everything else moving forward. Cheers
to a wonderful growing season ahead! We look forward to keeping you posted in the fall with harvest updates and happenings at the winery.
