Supporting people
with learning
disabilities into
employment
Aurora Foxes Academy, based in Minehead, Somerset
trains young people aged 18 to 25 with learning
disabilities to work in the hospitality sector. Sodexo
supports the students with hospitality, life and
employability skills.
In July 2022, we received a call from the Transition Manager at Aurora
Foxes asking about a placement for a student, Esme. We were able
to offer Esme a job on the team at Denison Barracks, and she has
thrived in her role and has now started her level 2 Food Production
Apprenticeship, supported by her Head Chef, the General Manager and
Front of House Supervisor.
Esme said:
“Of all the things I do in the week, I love work the most. At first,
I was nervous but not for long; my colleagues are caring and
kind, they are my friends, we are a team. I like learning new
things and getting better at what I do. Work is something I look
forward to every day.”
