“Our social value strategy is underpinned by
understanding the needs of our people and the
communities where they live, work and play.
This awareness provides us with insight to make
informed decisions on how to best leverage the talent
in each community, prioritise our approach in creating
sustainable solutions, and create an ecosystem that
leverages the best services and produce from local
suppliers.
Coming to Sodexo from the charity sector in 2008, I was struck
by the organisation’s commitment to making a real difference to
its people and the planet. It was this focus on social value that
showed me the extent to which industry can be, and often is, a
force for good in tackling societal, economic and environmental
challenges.
A whole ecosystem, collectively working together to create a
better everyday for everyone.
Whilst we strive to grow with purpose, we do so by keeping a laser
focus on the impact we are making – the legacy we are leaving
behind for future generations. Our social impact strategy has been
developed to help inform our decisions, empowering our people to
bring to life the values that we as a business uphold, but that are
so important to our colleagues across the UK and Ireland.
I’m inspired by our progress in creating equity across our
communities, enhancing the social mobility of our workforce, and
our future workforce, and our journey towards net zero”.
Angela Halliday, Director, Social Impact UK & Ireland.
This can of course only be authentically achieved where the
commitments stem from the culture of the business, made
possible by the passion of our colleagues delivering our services,
working in tandem with the network of partners with whom we
engage, and subject to the openness and trust of our clients.
