University of London, Generation
Success and Chapter One
(Innovation for Learning).
Chapter One
Chapter One (formerly TutorMate) is the flagship educational
programme from Innovation for Learning UK which supports
children in disadvantaged areas across the UK. Sodexo’s
volunteering programme with Chapter One sees colleagues
providing valuable reading support to school children aged
between 5 and 7 years old. Volunteers spend 30 minutes or more
a week with their allocated pupil via an online platform which
allows the child to practice their reading.
After a successful first year of the programme, the partnership
was extended and 29 Sodexo employees now support children in
schools in Middlesborough and Glasgow.
The programme was awarded silver in the innovation category of
the sixth annual UK Social Mobility Awards in 2022. These raise
awareness of social mobility and showcase the individuals and
organisations who are dedicated to its advancement.
