3: Our Hobbies
Task A:
A class survey about our hobbies
Topic overview
This topic should enable students to recognise and use some very basic phrases to talk about hobbies.
Students will learn the names of their favourite hobbies.
Task description
The aim of this task is for students to familiarise themselves with some famous people from the target
language country/countries. Students present their chosen person to the class by designing a poster,
a PowerPoint presentation or an avatar.

• Recall and pronounce new words for hobbies and the numbers 1-20.
• Ask someone about their hobbies.
• Tell someone about your hobbies.
• Present the results of a simple survey.

In the survey, students indicate the hobbies they
have and tick the boxes rather than asking each
other. Students may wish to include different
hobbies than the ones from the presentation on
their survey template. Students can find key words
in the dictionary and ask for teacher help to
formulate sentences.
