4: Food & Shopping
Task A:
A traditional dish
Topic overview
This topic aims to prepare students to be able to order food in a restaurant or shop. Students will learn basic
food vocabulary, typical food from the target language country/countries and simple expressions and
phrases used to order food. Students may take material from a wider pool of information provided.
Task description
Students write a shopping list (page 58) to buy the necessary ingredients to prepare a chosen traditional
Italian dish. Students have to keep their expenses to a given budget. Students can prepare a poster or
PowerPoint presentation with images of their chosen dish and ingredients list. Finally, students create a
restaurant menu and list the ingredients for each dish.
