6: Intercultural Awareness
Task B:
Reflect, reflect, reflect!
Task description
Students will reflect on what they have learnt and how meaningful it was to them. They will present their
observations to their peers orally or in written format.
(i) Give students the ‘Before and After’ worksheet to complete on their own.
(ii) Students should write down their reflections on what they have learnt throughout the module. Teachers
may have to brainstorm some sample answers with students before they begin using the worksheet.
(iii) The teacher may ask students to share their observations and discuss their views or they may display
them around the classroom for students to read their peers’ reviews quietly.
(iv) Following discussion on what students have learned, use the ‘My Learning Experience’ worksheet to
facilitate reflection on students’ experience of learning a new language as part of this module.

• What and how much they have learnt throughout the module in relation to different cultural aspects
of the target country/ies & also in relation to their peers’ lives in the target language country/countries.
• How their preconceptions of the target country/ies have evolved.
• How they coped with different aspects of their learning experiences throughout the module.
Resources
• ‘Before and After’ worksheet (page 62).
• ‘My Learning Experience’ worksheet (page 63).
Students can also be given the option to
design one of the worksheets in a poster
format using their own creative style.
