5: Holidays and Festivals
Task A:
A holiday abroad
Topic overview
This topic enables students to recognise and use some basic words and phrases to talk about and describe
holidays. Students will research holidays in the target language country/countries. They will also learn about
famous festivals from the target language country and countries.
Task description
The aim of this task is for students to create a poster illustrating their idea for a trip abroad to see a particular
event or festival. Students imagine, plan, and detail their ideal trip to the target language country… on a
budget! They do so under five headings where, when, how, why, and how much?
Notes for teachers:
Give students a realistic budget to make the task more challenging.
For example, €500 per person for flights, accommodation and event tickets for a three-day holiday abroad.
