Investigative Services Bureau
SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION
The mission of the Hartford Police Department’s Special Investigations
Division (SID) is to promptly and professionally provide investigative
police services in the areas of Adult/Juvenile sexual assaults, child abuse,
and any other incident where children are victimized or may ultimately
fall victim to a crime. SID also provides investigative services in the areas of missing persons, the sex offender registry, cybercrime, the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), and human traf昀椀cking. It is the goal
of the investigative teams within SID to thoroughly investigate these
cases while completing the investigations in a timely manner. This will
serve to provide either case closure or prosecutorial documentation.
Inter-agency cooperation is a paramount goal of the Special Investigations Division. SID works closely with the State Department of Children
and Families (DCF), the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), Connecticut
Children’s Medical Center (CCMC), and other agencies in order to effectively address cases involving juveniles as both victims and offenders.
These inter-agency partnerships and a philosophy of teamwork will further enhance the level of professional services provided to protect the
children of the City of Hartford.
SID is currently staffed with one lieutenant, two sergeants, thirteen detectives, and one DCF employee who serves as a liaison between the
Police Department and the Department of Children and Families.
