That’s impressive! How active are
you now and what boat do you use
most?
I currently own over 20 boats, including rowing shells, 昀椀xed-seat
rowboats, kayaks, and a couple of
sailboats. I love to get out on the
water daily and put in over 1,000
miles annually rowing alone.
Do you have many opportunities
to sail outside of Morro Bay?
Morro Bay is my home port, but I
would love to get to know all the
harbors more intimately throughout
California and the rest of the West
Coast.
Do you do anything not boating
related?
I do. Although it’s still maritime
related. I’m a board member of the
Point San Luis Lighthouse, located
in Port San Luis. The lighthouse
has been around since 1890 and it’s
been completely renovated. You
should take the time to get out here
and see it sometime.
How did you get involved with
publishing Tide Books?
I’m sure most of you have seen
those tiny little pocket-sized tide
books, found for almost 4 decades
at harbor o昀케ces, marine-related
businesses, liquor stores, etc. The
publisher had suddenly gone out
of business, and responding to the
ongoing demand, I created a nicer,
more a昀昀ordable solution. The new
books are easy to read, are attractive, and o昀昀er 4 full-color cover
pages for customization. And since
people keep these all year long,
your message stays with them as a
reminder to support your business.
Why do you think sponsoring a
local Tide Book is a good promotional idea?
Sponsoring a local tide book has a
lot of advantages for marine-related businesses and organizations.
Some agencies use it as a handy
reference to harbor or beach rules,
as a directory for important contacts, or to highlight local knowledge in navigating the area and its
facilities.
Thanks for taking the time to let
us get to know you a little better.
If someone wants to sponsor their
own Tide Book, what do they need
