A Lot is Happening
at Humboldt Bay
Once again, there is a lot happening
at Humboldt Bay.
Nordic Aquafarms has received
their Outfall Coastal Development Permit from the California
Coastal Commission for the ocean

Aquafarms plans to raise 3,300
tons of Yellowtail King昀椀sh at the
facility. The plant is still working
with the Harbor District and the
Commission to obtain a permit
for the water intake for its recirculating aquaculture system (RAS)
and expects to have it approved by
next year.
Nordic has three operational sites
in Norway and Denmark for the
production of Yellowtail King昀椀sh.
the Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District.
The Harbor District has submitted
a CDP application (No. 1-21-0653)
to the Commission for that intake
system and it is currently under
review. The Harbor District proposes to withdraw approximately
12 million gallons of water per day
from Humboldt Bay and sell it to
Nordic and/or other similar users.
