Rise Resiliency Project on District
property.
To quote from the permit application: “The Resiliency Project
would provide 昀氀ood reduction and
sea level rise resiliency through the
replacement of undersized storm
drain piping and culverts, installation of tide gates to manage 昀氀ows
and limit salt water intrusion into
the stormwater system, construction of Low Impact Development
(LID) features including rain gardens, and limited earthwork within
Palco Marsh to increase stormwater storage capacity. The Resiliency Project would also include the
installation of trash capture devices (TCDs) to reduce the amount
of pollution that could potentially
enter Humboldt Bay. One of the
Resiliency Project locations is jurisdictional to the Harbor District.
The Dutra Group has been awarded a contract to dredge at the
District’s Woodley Island Marina. In the Dutra Group notice
to the Coast Guard they stated
“Our clamshell dredge, “Excavator Barge Horton” will carry out
dredging operations. Our scow
昀氀eet will consist of 1 split hull
scow. The capacity of the scow is
2,00CY.
The tow tug “Julius Brusco” or
comparable will serve as our tow
tug during disposal operations. The
material from Woodley Island Marina will be disposed of o昀昀shore
at the Humboldt Open Ocean Disposal Site (HOODS) as directed by
the Dredged Material Management
