How are the services of the well-being program delivered?
Resources for the program – aided by an online evidenced based wellness system, CORE WELLNESS, that is
available to medical students, residents, fellows, faculty and staff – include:
•
The director and manager of well-being are available for private wellness check-ins and consultations. Each medical school class elects one member to serve as its well-being
representative – they work alongside the director and manager of well-being to
ensure that programs and offerings are meeting the needs of students.
•
Student counseling and psychological services are available on
campus through psychologist Dr. James Jobe.
• Ongoing well-being programming that includes group exercise, meditation, therapy dogs and chair massage for
students, faculty and staff.
•
Medical students have free access to UNLV’s Student
Recreation and Wellness Center.
• Resident wellness resources include lounge and gym
areas, wellness events and other various services.
•
The coordinator of academic support services is
available to assist students with creating study plans,
success check-ins, and to connect students with peer
tutors.
Where can individuals engage in wellbeing programs and activities?
Well-being initiatives are carried out in a variety
of ways, including during class time, virtual small
groups, seminars, as well as one-to-one support.
Activities occur throughout the school of medicine
campus, as well as in areas around Las Vegas, such
as Red Rock Canyon & Lake Mead.
