Creating the
right spaces for: a
sustainable future
The thing I enjoy most
about working in care
is making a difference
and seeing each person’s
journey. I have a passion
for making a difference
and contributing to even
the smallest step for that
individual.
You can develop your career at Active
Prospects – there are lots of training and
development opportunities here. The
growth of the organisation has given me
and other people even more opportunities.
We’ve opened more services and diversified
our skills.
I think some people don’t look at it as
a career. But since Covid more people
realise how important carers and support
workers are. It’s rewarding and you make a
difference to people’s lives.”
As a care provider which either owns or leases over 30
properties, we understand our responsibility to reduce our
negative impact on the environment. This year we have
continued to deliver our ambitious environmental strategy:
+ New homes in development have an Energy Performance
Certificate (EPC) rating of at least ‘B’.
+ We improved the EPC of existing buildings, moving 10% of
homes from below an EPC rating of C to a rating of C and
above, through a programme of works.
+ We achieved a 10% reduction in energy usage across our
properties, thanks to an energy efficiency campaign which
was also delivered in Easyread.
We have also worked hard to protect the financial security of
Active Prospects. Despite the challenges presented by rising
inflation, high energy costs and real-term funding cuts, we
managed to deliver a small surplus for the 2022-23 financial
year. To achieve this, we have had to make some tough choices:
for example we have reduced the size of our central office
teams by 10%.
We have also been successful in generating new income to
develop new properties and projects – for example, the NHS
Capital Grants (see p.12) and the two grants to set up the Care
Talent Collective and Wellbeing Coaches project (see p16-17).
