Active Prospects Impact Report 2023 final - Flipbook - Page 4
Foreword
The theme of this year’s Impact Report is ‘creating the right
spaces’. As an experienced care provider with expertise in
developing bespoke homes for autistic people and people
with learning disabilities, complex needs and mental health
diagnoses, we know how crucial it is to create the right ‘spaces’
for the people we support, as well as our staff, to thrive.
Operating in the shadow of years of government
underinvestment, a global pandemic and a costof-living crisis, we also know that it’s harder than
ever to create the right spaces for people to live
and thrive; for staff to develop and prosper; for
influencing change; and for providing the best
possible care.
This year in particular we have had to be creative
and innovative to secure new investment, develop
much-needed homes, and broaden our offer. We
have had to make some tough decisions to remain
a Real Living Wage employer in a climate of rising
costs and real-term spending cuts. And we have
collaborated with others to find new ways to
attract new talent into the sector.

Despite the context, this has been a successful year:
we’ve created 19 new or remodelled homes with
another 8 in the pipeline for 2024-25. We’ve secured
two sizeable grants which will enable us to pilot
new approaches to recruitment and retention, and
support for autistic people experiencing mental health
challenges. The outstanding feedback that we received
from the Great Places to Work survey earlier this year
suggests we’ve created a space where staff feel a real
sense of inclusion and belonging.
This report shares some of the achievements we have
delivered together with staff, people we support and
partners, over this year, including some incredible
examples of the power of great care to transform
people’s lives. We hope you enjoy reading it.
