Sarah Howland
1966 to 2023
We were all shocked to hear the news of Sarah
Howland9s death before Christmas. Along with her other
roles in the village, she was an invaluable
contributor to Nympton News with an
extensive knowledge of the community, young and old,
newcomers and established families alike. Here, her best
friend in the village, Chrissy King, pays tribute.
Soon after Gary & I moved to the village in 2016 I met
Sarah at Amy's charity coffee morning. I sat next to Sarah
in Amy's living room, Roland was hosting an auction and we did nothing
but laugh. Over the years I met up frequently for coffee at Sarah's, when
she lived at 'Peonies'. When Sarah moved to 'Maidens' we saw each other
every day. We went on holiday to
Yorkshire by coach, we laughed all the
time, she had a wicked sense of humour.
We also went to Hull and back on a
mystery tour coach holiday. I moved into
Sarah's during lockdown for 4 months, we
looked out for each other. Sarah did so
much for King's Nympton and she loved
her church, St.James's. She would do
anything for anyone. Sarah was like a
sister to me and I am devastated with her
passing. We even shared a cat, Misty who would keep Sarah company at
least twice a week. Sarah loved that; Misty would lay next to her on her
bed at night. We went for days out mostly to the coast and garden centres,
occasionally Anne would join us. We had such fun and Sarah never once
complained. I didn't realise we were making memories, I thought we were
just having fun. I miss Sarah every day.
