Extracts from the eulogies at Sarah9s funeral
David Howland (Sarah’s brother) As the oldest of three children, and
the only one remaining, it falls on me to lead this tribute to my little sister.
However, the real tribute today is that there are so many of you here now
to offer thanks for knowing her and show
your appreciation of her life and what she
has done in this village and local
community. Sarah was born in 1966, the
youngest of three children and 11 years
younger than me. she started life with a
challenge as I remember that she had to
have a full blood transfusion after her
birth. Sarah was introduced to camping
at an early age. However all young children
around two to three years old like to wander, and suitcases across the
entrance to the tent had to be used to prevent her from wandering off
into the campsite. After leaving school Sarah
went to work for orst Radio Rentals and then
the Caravan Club in East Grinstead in clerical
positions before she came to Kings Nympton
with mum and dad in 1990. She worked
alongside dad in providing accountancy
services and then took over looking after his
clients following his death 10 years ago. Sarah
immersed herself in village and community life
- she cleaned holiday accommodation, she worked in the Grove both
behind the bar and cooking with Deborah in the kitchen. She was a
parish councillor, served on the parish hall committee, helped organise
the annual revel and other village events. Sarah was a Church Warden
here at Saint James and was still very active helping to lead morning
prayer on Sundays despite her health issues. Her devotion to the
