community and her cheerful persistence won her many friends Sarah
especially valued her friendships with Chrissy, Ann and Jean as well as
Bryant and Barbara. Her health was an
ongoing concern and she had to have a heart
valve replaced in 2010. As the years went by
it was evident that another valve in her heart
would need to be replaced but this carried
greater risk than before because of the
effects of lupus on her body. Sarah was
determined that the operation needed to be
done to improve her quality of life, despite the risks. I salute and applaud
her bravery, determination and cheerful positivity in her approach to
surgery. She was my sister, my only sister. I loved her and I miss her, as I
know do many of you. Thank you for making my sister live happily in this
community. Thank you for being her friends.
Rosy Robinson was Sarah9s best friend from childhood4she was the
daughter of Dick and Sheila Poore4family friends of Sarah9s parents3 who
lived at Shalom (now Somerleigh)
I knew you your whole life and was lucky to share so
many good times with you. As children we ran around
oelds and beaches playing together on family holidays
and shared family Christmases. Our friendship
however was not always harmonious - it took ove year
old me quite a long time to forgive you for drawing all
over my dolly's face with felt pens! As teenagers there
were weekends with the camping club youth sat
outside our tents late at night eating rice pudding and
baked beans out of the tin, drinking wine we weren't
supposed to have, and discussing the merits of various lads as boyfriend
material! As we got older we decided that because our mums expected
us to be friends we were not going to admit this was true! There followed
about ove years of birthday and Christmas cards signed `love, your
acquaintance9 until we reached our 20s and agreed that we were old
enough to make that choice for ourselves. When I met Pete you made
