2024 01 Spring with bleed V4 - Flipbook - Page 31
We had a successful Pancake Afternoon on
Shrove Tuesday raising £178 in aid of Macmillan
Cancer Support and our own Window Repair
Fund. Thank you to all who supported this event.
We joined our friends at the Parish Church for the
Plough Sunday Service. Now that we are coming
out of a grey Winter and looking forward to a
green Spring it was a blessing to be able to say thank you and God Speed
The Plough. On the evening of Sunday 28th April the South Molton Circuit
Choir will perform a varied repertoire, starting at 6.30pm. Join us for an
evening of entertainment followed by light refreshments. On Sunday 2nd
June 6.30pm, Sue Rainger and Caroline Cassinelli aka The Ukuladies will
sing sacred songs in harmony from the Old Time
American tradition. 15 years ago these two talented
ladies travelled through the Appalachians. On their
trip they visited different churches and joined in with
their singing and worship. We look forward to them
bringing their unique music to us. Mr Melvyn Britten
will lead the Service and the evening will end with
light refreshments. All very welcome. We were
saddened by the passing of Sarah Howland. It is
always a pleasure to work with our C of E friends and
Sarah was always our go to girl on point of
information. Sarah was always so kind and helpful and she will be sadly
missed by all.
Angela Bilham
encourages optimism that there is a strong feeling that the community will
always ensure that St James survives. None of us wants to see a thousandyear institution decline on our watch. The Church (and Chapel) are part of the
rhythm of life. They are there to meet the needs of the community when
required. A lot of people, including those that do not regularly attend on
Sundays, put in a lot of work to try to ensure that this will remain the case for
a long time. Best wishes on behalf of St James Church PCC.
