the unKNown
diners
A bright February lunchtime saw us
driving to The Duck at Yeoford near
Crediton for our latest get together. The
inn dates from the 19th century and very
cleverly blends the old with the modern.
There are several rooms as well as a larger
open dining area. A comprehensive menu in addition to a chalk board
with the specials of the day made it a difocult choice. The lunch and dinner
menus are different but there is always a osh, meat and vegetarian option
along with a children9s menu. They
focus on quality and locally supplied
produce. The drinks menu again
focuses on local gins, ale, lager and
cider including their own label
Muddy Duck ale and a red, white and
rose wine along with over 40 other
reasonable priced wines to choose
from. We decided to begin with a
selection of kitchen nibbles and starters to share between us. Scotch egg,
honey and mustard pigs in blankets, Cheddar and thyme shortbread with
trufne mayonnaise, chorizo and macaroni
croquettes with smoked paprika, chicken liver
parfait with red onion marmalade and
sourdough and onally curried caulinower
Arancini. All exceeding tasty. For a light lunch
you could happily go tapas style and order a
selection of these varied dishes. For the main
course we
chose a very
tender
peppered
venison ollet,
Aubergine
Parmigiana
