Lead Sheet Specification
Whether updating your skills/knowledgebase in leadwork
or hard metals – or starting out/looking for a rewarding,
in demand, alternative career path, I cannot speak highly
enough of the training delivered by LSTA.
Training is intense but enjoyable, with different levels of
modules being taught at any given time - but with
absolutely no discrimination, only professionalism,
targeted help & encouragement for you to aspire to do
your very best.
4 months on and I have just completed Module 5 Advanced traditional lead craft.
The combined cost of Basic, Intermediate & Advanced
traditional modules represents excellent value for money
when you consider I have acquired skills beyond my expectations and I am now competent in all aspects of bossing, welding & sand casting and looking forward to
meeting the challenges of all aspects of both old & new
leadwork.
Lead sheet for all purposes should conform to BS EN
12588 Rolled Lead Sheet for Building Purposes. This
specifies thickness and chemical composition to produce
a consistent microstructure that provides the required resistance to creep and thermal fatigue. BS EN 12588 identifies a range of six thicknesses defined in millimetres. The
specified thickness should not vary by more than ±5%
throughout the sheet. For easy identification, these thicknesses have code numbers: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Thus the
substance of lead sheet is specified by its BS code number
or, alternatively, by its thickness in millimetres. The standard range of thicknesses, uses and maximum recommended sizes are shown in Tables 2 and 3. This Code of
Practice only applies to fitting of the Rolled Lead Sheet
manufactured to BS EN 12588. If you are using any other
type of lead sheet, please refer to the individual manufacturer for guidance on the installation or bay sizing.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time training here and have
absolutely no hesitation in recommending LSTA.
My sincere thanks to Simon, John, Sharon & Emmi
Glen Bull.
Note - Situations may arise whereby the thickness of lead
sheet will need to be increased to cope with thermal
movement, exposure, and longevity.
LEAD SHEET TRAINING ACADEMY
Where to start….
4 months ago I came to LSTA for Basic lead craft training,
with a view to progressing on to the City & Guilds Intermediate level – but not at all confident that I could in fact
achieve that standard.
Well, welcome to the fantastic team at LSTA, who in my
view are the ‘best of the best’. I believe that you get out
what you are prepared to put in…and show these guys
