Building on over 500 years of lime production heritage at
Wenlock Edge, Lime Green has two sites just outside
Much Wenlock. A state-of-the-art mixing plant and
a new office, training, and warehouse complex.
Nearly half a million pounds was invested in the plant in
2023, with a new mixer and mini mixer. A new automated
packaging line was also added in early 2024, featuring an
automatic bag filler, conveyor, and robot that efficiently
lifts and shrink-wraps pallets. The result, the ability to
triple production, reducing lead times.
We have capacity to hold 600 tonnes of raw materials,
providing the capacity for a daily manufacturing output
of approx. 100 metric tonnes. A sophisticated software
system ensures highly accurate computer-controlled
batching of ingredients for all lime-based products.
Operations Director James Ayres explains, “Our plant is
engineered for extreme precision, with some ingredients
measured as accurately as 1 gram per tonne. This allows
us to produce products with consistent quality over
time while optimizing raw material and energy use. The
bulk storage system is cleaner and safer, with materials
stored in sealed, monitored silos. This has also significantly reduced HGV traffic and minimized packaging
waste on-site.”
