More fun activities for all languages
1. Play with cups and numbers
4. Quiz / Kahoot
A. Prepare 2 sets of paper cups. Write the digits 0-9
around the mouth of each cup.
A. Watch a video about language study/use. (Check
out the Languages Connect Youtube Channel for
lots of great ideas).
B. When the game begins the teacher or a helper
calls out a series of numbers to form a code. They
can make the code longer or shorter depending
on the desired level of difficulty. The individual or
team that moves the cups to line up the numbers
first is the winner.
C. Divide parents and students into groups to
compete for solving the code.
B. Create an online quiz using Kahoot or other
similar apps to engage the audience.
C. Alternatively, quizzes could be generated from
posters supplied or other materials at hand.
D. You could try a version like 'who wants to be a
millionaire'.
5. Play with the mini whiteboard
A. Play crosswords/word search.
B. List top 3 facts why learning a language would
be helpful in the future.

C. Competition to list 5 words in English that are
from the target language.
A. Prepare a treasure hunt guide (one piece of
paper), which lists words in target language for
all key clues (e.g., location, direction, object).
D. Prepare a food making/tasting corner, supply
whiteboards with target language expressions
(e.g., yummy, too hot, don’t like it…) that visitors
could use to express their opinions and learn the
phrases.
B. Write clues in one or more languages that will
guide participants. Write a code or a phrase on
the last clue.

C. Depending on the difficulty of the game, give
clues to participants individually or put parents
and students into groups. Give out the first clue
to all the groups to begin the hunt. Ask them to
find the final clue with the code or phrase in
exchange for the ‘treasure’.

A. Play some music and play a powerpoint
slideshow with photos of MFL related events in
the background to create a lovely atmosphere.

D. Fill in missing words or put sentences/
paragraphs in order.
B. Explore famous people who speak the target
language.
C. Provide photos of a famous person (e.g., athletes,
singers, actors) to match with a short profile.
A. Scanning competition: Give visitors a phrase in
English for which they must find the equivalent
in the target language as quickly as possible
using the language mats.
B. Create a poster with one key word or phrase
from different languages.
