CASE STUDY: AHURI develops integrated understanding of mental
health, housing and homelessness support systems
AHURI’s Professional Services team was commissioned
for two substantial research projects that helped develop
new understandings of the complex relationship between
mental health, housing and homelessness. The first project,
undertaken for the National Mental Health Commission,
provided evidence on Australia’s housing and mental health
support systems and the integration required to provide
more and better housing services for people with lived
experience of mental ill health.
The second project, Trajectories, is a national study currently underway in partnership
with Mind Australia. Through nationwide consultations and evidence building, the project
is mapping the mental health pathways of people with lived experience of mental ill
health, the interaction of these pathways, and the potential points of intervention identified
through this understanding.
