Cecile Falvey OAM –
Weaving Her Way To Heaven
Cecile Falvey (Class of 1948) is at her loom in her studio in
Tamborine Mountain almost every day.
Her Catholic faith is intricately woven into many of the
wonderful creations she has produced and its thread runs
through her recently published book Happiness is weaving
every day : Cecile Falvey : 50 years of a weaver’s life 1969—
2019.
Cecile was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia
in 2007 for service to the textile sector through a range
of professional associations and as an educator. Despite
already working on her next exhibition, when the time
comes she is counting on taking her loom ‘upstairs’ with
her as she’d be lost without it!
