The Hallowian 2022 Vol1 - Flipbook - Page 4
Mrs Catherine O’Kane
2022 began with the unexpected
challenge of a COVID-delayed start
to the school year, followed by the
Brisbane flood disaster. As usual,
our All Hallows’ School community
rallied, ready to serve with open
hearts and hands.
As we looked for silver linings,
one of ours appeared from behind
scaffolding. Our reimagined Potter
Centre is set to be transformative,
not just for our students and staff,
but our whole School community
well into the future. New library
facilities, a greatly enlarged Senior
Study Centre, Junior and Senior
Makerspaces, a Technology Hub

and the rooftop Potter function
room are among the many
exciting additions. After a phased
relocation in July, an official
dedication is planned for August
2022. I look forward to introducing
our community to these incredible
new teaching and learning spaces
and to the stunning views from
our Level 4 Potter rooftop function
space.
Discussions continue with the
Congregation Leadership Team
regarding the possible transfer
of ownership of the Convent, the
spiritual home of the Brisbane
Congregation of the Sisters of
Mercy. November 1, 2022 will
mark the 159th anniversary of
the blessing of Adderton as the
Brisbane Congregation’s first
Convent which was also the school
and the boarding school until 1881
when Main Building was built
as the first purpose-built school
building for All Hallows’ School.
How delighted our founding Sisters
would be to see All Hallows’
remaining at the forefront of the
education of young Mercy women.
