Framers Of The Constitution
The power under the Constitution will always be in the People. It is entrusted for
certain defined purposes, and for a certain limited period, to representatives of their
own chusing [sic]; and whenever it is executed contrary to their Interest, or not
agreeable to their wishes, their Servants can, and undoubtedly will be, recalled.
Founding Father and First President of the United States George Washington, who
presided over The Constitutional Convention, in a letter to his nephew Bushrod
Washington, November 9, 1787. Bushrod Washington would serve as an Associate
Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1798 to 1829.
