The Enchanted Princess
In the heart of New York City,
Land of human warmth and pity,
Near the park of Riverside
A lovely princess did reside.
Full of Spunk and full of Spice,
Thought her world was awflly nice;
Loved to sing and loved to dance,
Loved to take most any chance.
The king was strong, he ruled the land
With piercing eye and iron hand
And as as the little princess grew
He always told her what to do.
"Always smile, be sweet and nice,"
Was her mother's sage advice;
"Don't get angry," said the Queen
"And always keep your elbows clean."
They taught her what do and think
And what eat and what to drink
And what to write and what to say
And to wear and what to play.
The princess, once so light and free,
Now wondered, "What is wrong with me?
The things I like are not okay.
I WILL be good! I WILL obey!"
And that was when befell the curse
That made her conflict so much worse
For when to please them she would try
She found that she could only lie.
