You still have quiet ways,
share a common moment
in quiet conversation
or looking for your cat.
I hear a beetle walking through the midnight grass
cautiously navigating
precarious twigs.
Slow and easy
your cat walks softly on the deck.
looking things over.
I watch a distant constellation
in the comer of the sky,
bold in the night,
fading slowly
in the soft lavender-gray morning light.
You smiled when you saw my glasses,
you've collected several pair
along the way.
Five years ...
I guess this is a way
to say hello and welcome back
to either of us.
Perhaps, this time
we both can stay.
