Impudence
I felt his eyes,
probing, searing,
like icy darts of fire
lapping up the
curves of my body
as I paced
across the room
once, twice, three times ...
Later, he followed me
as I moved from room to room.
He was my shadow,
always there beside me.
I was angry
at his persistence;
at his penetrating gaze,
sending icy tickles
up my spine.
When I could no longer
bear his presence,
he sensed
my desire for someone else
and was gone.
